I walk on a road lush with dreams,
a road of forgotten and veiled dreams,
sometimes slowly, sometimes gaily,
sometimes lost, sometimes profound,
I walk a road of unknown mysteries,
fervently finding my way through the endless path.....

Breakup? Time to peppy up!

Falling in love is the most amazing feeling in the world. Everything is colourful, bright and beautiful.
Life is a joy ride and as long as you are in love it seems you can counter everything.
But nothing is forever. Sometimes the most eternal feeling called love too runs its course. Sometimes the strongest of bonds  tends to break. The world becomes a gloomy place.

No amount of words can make a broken heart feel alright.
All reasonings seem futile and nothing seems to peppy you up.

Its totally understandable, that post breakup phase is really a difficult one specially if you have been on the receiving end or if your relation lasted for a considerable time but you need to accept that it is time to move on.

It would take a while to accept but not be forever or impossible.

All you need is a little hope and strength.
Time heals all wounds, no matter how so ever deep. So, let time do the work and in the meanwhile distract yourself into things you love.

Worry not about breakup, its time to cheer up, peppy up!

1)Indulge in a little self pampering- so what is he didn't give you what you deserved? It's time to shower yourself with a bit of self love.
Book an appointment to your favourite parlour or order some beautiful products online. You can also try some DIYs to soothe your skin or soften your hair.
The bottom line is, your soul needs to feel loved and who can love you more than yourself?

2)Be your own Santa- christmas may have passed and your birthday too is months ahead but you don't need reasons to gift yourself. So be your own Santa and buy for yourself some exotic products. Sounds Insane?
Believe me you will love it.
It could be the costly MAC lipstick or the designer sunglasses you have been eyeing since a year.
Know that you are priceless and peppy up darling!

3)Hobbies- you may have heard this a hundred times but that's because indulging in the things you love is one of the greatest stress busters.
If you feel you can't find a hobby then search things that cater your interests.
Cooking, Baking, Writing, Dancing, there is no dearth of things that you may find your interest in.

4)Achieve- Winning or achieving gives us a sense of self accomplishment that nothing else can.
Participate in contests and give your best or maybe join a study summer course and get good grades. You can also look ahead to excelling in your own profession. By this I do not mean that you turn into a workaholic, just little achievements that make you feel that you are worthy.

5)Travel far and wide- Pack your bags and book the tickets to that place you had planned to visit.
Travelling is indeed the best of stress busters and actually a golden way to divert your attention from memories that break you down.
Travelling also brings in new experiences and new people which is so very healthy for a shattered soul.

Above all, you need to get yourself together and look forward.
Don't forget to seek help if needed and talk to those who you think can really help you.
Remind yourself that everyone goes through such phases in life and you are not alone.

Navigating through medical life..Doctors-Book Review

Source: www.sarahmalikdelhi.blogspot.com

Doctors is a story of Harvard medical student's class of 1962.
The book beautifully navigates through the medical as well as personal life of these healers in white coats.

Centring around Barney Livingston and Laura Castellano, the book opens up in the childhood of these would-be doctors and their families who are neighbours.

Slowly it moves forward as they cross their teenage and finally enter the prestigious 'Harvard medical school'.
After five years of grilling, the story progresses to their days of internship and how each of the batchmates moves towards various specialities.

The book then revolves and vividly narrates the hardships faced by each one of them. Their struggles, the war, the racism, hopes, love and how they continue to progress into the medical field inspite of all odds. Finding love, experiencing heartbreaks, disease and calamities.

No doubt, this work of Erich Segal is a page turner all the way.
The poise with which he navigates into the medical world to show innumerable aspects of a doctor's life is commendable. The most wonderful aspect of the story is that it sticks to the central theme and yet manages to spread, showing so many aspects of a doctors life.
Be it the racism faced by Bennett or Seth's undue compassion for his patients.

I also loved how he slowly and very beautifully depicts the relationship between story's main protagonists Laura and Barney and then how their platonic friendship ends to give way to romantic love.

Equation between Bennett and Barney is amazingly portrayed too.
I also loved how Erich broadens our medical horizons and reasons out each of the characters moving on to practice their interests of speciality.

The ending is beautiful too and does explain many aspects between medicine and miracle. How even doctors who heal can be helpless and that they too look forward to miracles.

Favourite character: It has to be Dr. Barney Livingston. This guy is a real charmer. Be his equation with Laura or Bennett. His passion, his knowledge and sarcasm, Depiction of Barney's character is simply awesome.
I totally fell in love with our hero cum psychiatrist.

Favourite lines:
1. "He had spent most of his lifetime studying the art of medicine and realized now that he would never really understand its mysteries. For medicine is an eternal quest for reasons - causes that explain effects. Science cannot comprehend a miracle".
2. "although science could pinpoint the exact spot in the brain that ignites rage, they had yet to identify the location that produces love".

Favourite part: All of the medical college. Being a medical student, this was the part of the book I could relate to so very much. It just took me back to my medical college days, the sleepless nights during exams, endless discussions on the phone, how ruthless our medical professors were, how easily they failed, the incessant mugging and each and every detail is so real.

Verdict: This book is a MUST read for every medical student.
You will simply Love it!
Those of you who do not belong to the medical fraternity, this book is the best way to navigate and understand the life of these mortals in white coats.

Media and the mind games

"In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind." -Edward L. Bernays

The world today might appear to be crazily connected and extremely well informed but thats just the tip of an iceberg. Reality is diametrically opposite to it.

In this age of social media, where it takes seconds for a single piece of information to go viral, all of us are happily surviving in the pseudo shield of being 'well unformed' 'vigilant' and 'updated' with our times.
We log in to our facebooks, scroll our twitter accounts and open whats app on our phones and find that there is so much to read and know.
One by one, we blindly gulp down all the
news buzzing on our feed-lines and time-lines.
Of Course, if its shared on the world wide web, it has to be right and anyhow, who on earth has the time to find out. The news appears sizzling and sensational enough, it ought to be shared and passed on. Right?

No matter the source, if the news is madly being circulated, we just tend to read the most popular and juiciest bits and jump in the judgemental bandwagon.
Speculating and discussing as if we were the experts of that particular subject.

Amazing isn't it?

What we fail to realise is the heart of the matter.
'What is the source if the news'?
'Has it been thoroughly researched before being written'?
'Does it serve any sort of propaganda'?
'Is this piece of information complete or just parts of it'?

The lure of sharing and getting unnecessary appreciation has triumphed our basic reasoning and intellect.

But have you ever thought as to who really triumphs? Who really manages to create a false impact on you and get into a win-win situation always?
It is none other than the media.

Media has long been playing mind games with us. It has never been hidden that through the media, political parties and their dirty propagandas tend to widely thrive not just in our talks but somewhere deep into the minds too.

The arrival of social networking and micro-blogging has served media just the right board to play with our minds.
They can easily circulate any half true or at times completely false information and let people relate to it, accept it and even spread it.
Its very to similar to how back in school and college days, one of those innocent and naive looking girls would be easily able to sweet talk and spread. The others girls would easily be preyed into transferring her half-baked rumour from ear to ear leading to incessant gossips.
The interesting part about all of it is, there never exists even an iota of truth and whatever fragments are mistakenly present, get lost in the mist of secret air too!

We fail to realise what a fool we are making of ourselves while reading, believing and then proudly sharing tonnes of false news created tactfully by the media each day.
Not even giving a thought to the fact that how bad an impact such ignorant actions will create on the generations to come.

Every passing day, we continue to ease the work of media. For the extent of their reach continues to grow each day and the amount of effort they require to do so is minimal.

All media needs is to create a story build in sensationalism, with a little spice, topping it with religious hullabaloo and voila! We are all set to attack and gulp it down.
Letting it impact us and those around us.

Its high time we give a thought to what are cruel and cunning game media is playing.
They say you can't fool all people all the time but due to our naiveness media is actually accomplishing just them.

Lets open our eyes dear friends, lets reject that what is wrong. Lets strive to find the truth and only share that which we are absolutely sure of.
Lets accept and respect transparency.

Quoting Philip G. Zimbardo
"The most dramatic instances of directed behavior change and "mind control" are not the consequence of exotic forms of influence, such as hypnosis, psychotropic drugs, or "brainwashing," but rather the systematic manipulation of the most mundane aspects of human nature over time in confining settings".
